HOME ABOUT THE SCHOOLS WHAT WE DO CONTACT US

What your contributions have already achieved and what is still to be done....

Who will look after your donations?
A Management Committee consisting of parents and Head Teachers has been set up in Kenya to organise tenders and arrange for the work to be done. In Edinburgh the Board of Trustees, consisting of volunteers experienced in development, education, law and business, will raise funds which will be sent directly to the committee in Kenya. They will submit accounts that will be sent to the Trustees and subjected to due diligence and governance. Visits will be made by Trustees at their own expense, to review and report on progress.

Sarah Sieley (Founder of the Ribban Children's Trust)
Sarah went to primary school near these two schools. She recalls having to write with her big toe in the dust at first. She passed the exams to attend one of the two secondary schools for girls in Kenya and later went to the only A level school for girls at that time.

After completing a degree at the University of East Africa, she received a scholarship to attend Harvard University. After attaining a Masters and Doctorate in Child Psychology, Sarah worked for many years with vulnerable children in Kenya and Scotland. She believes that basic education can transform children’s lives.

Val Greaves (Trustee of the Ribban Children's Trust)
Val met Sarah when she was teaching in Kenya. They met again when they were both married to lecturers at Edinburgh University. They have been friends ever since. Val now works as an Independent Financial Adviser and she and her friends often run, cycle or walk for charity.
